Description
Unusual turquoise earrings with silver and multi-stone embellishments by Harrison Jim, Navajo. The pierced/post earrings are approximately 1 1 /2" x 5/8" and weigh approximately 15 grams. The earrings are in a "half-moon" shape with 5 small round stones at the top (malachite, lapis, pink coral, turquoise and red coral). They have sterling wire, beading and embellishments and are signed by the artist. The turquoise has a greenish cast and bronze/coppery markings in the stone.Harrison Jim is often confused with Jim Harrison. Both are outstanding Navajo artists but with very different styles. Harrison Jim (signed H. Jim, a hallmark he started using in 1976) is an award winning artist who learned his art as a high school student and was influenced and inspired by his grandmother's weavings and silversmithing and artists such as McKee Platero and Tommy Jackson who he worked for early in his career. His style is meticulous and incorporates both traditional and contemporary elements.
