    Description

    This is a vintage 1950s Boy Scouts of America (BSA) hand axe/hatchet in excellent used condition.
    Manufactured by the Bridgeport Howe. Mfg. Co. in Bridgeport, Conn. U.S.A., of high quality steel with hardwood handles. The handles are firmly attached by rivets and are tight (not loose).Still has much of its original green pant and some of the red paint at the base of the hardwood handle. The wood is not cracked/split, but does show signs of normal use wear. Likewise, the back of the axe (above the stamped Bridgeport logo) has some evidence of (metal tent stake) pounding activity. The blade of the axe is sharp with minimal evidence of re-sharpening activity, which would have shortened its dimensions.
    The vintage green sheath, an unused military surplus item, is marked U.S. On the back are two metal adjustments for belt attachment.
