    Description

VERY RARE 1930’s Rinshed-Mason Color Specifications On American Automobiles
From a recent local estate sale, one vintage 1930’s Rinshed-Mason paint color specifications book. I sold a couple of small old paint color chip books from the same estate a couple of years ago, but I don’t know where to begin with this one. I guess the first page information is a start. The book is large format with 8.5” x 11” pages, that have the automobiles represented, Buick, Cadillac Lasalle, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Graham, Hudson Terraplane, Lincoln. Oldsmobile, Packard, and Plymouth. There are 58 pages with specs, and 10 pages with named color paint chips.Starts with different years, such as 1936 and 1937 for Buick, and 1930 and 1931 all the Cadillacs, on and on for all the different car models. For each type of car there is an incredible array of color options, how to mix them, and many different combinations of where to put them, such as one color for body, different one for fenders, another for striping, another for wheels, etc. on and on. To try to go into more detail I would have to type out the book. The various names of all the color choices is astounding in itself, including a page of lacquer colors just for striping. The book is binder type with brass things going through holes at page edges to hold everything together, and there are two pages of colors that were added at the back for 1947 and 1949 Fords, in addition to the 1934-35-36 Ford pages at front. The book is a goldmine of information on the painting of cars back in the 1930’s.  All as in photos and above condition description. Buyer to pay USPS shipping. Thanks for taking a look.
