    Description

These elegant sterling silver pierced (post) earrings were hand-crafted by Richard Begay  in 1996 and have been in our vault, never worn. They are approximately 1.75" long and 1" at their widest point with a total weight of 13.5 grams. The triangular tops are beautifully inlaid primarily with pink and red coral, and embellished with thin strips of jet, turquoise and lapis.  The inlay is meticulous and coordinates beautifully with the polished/stamped shell shaped base for an elegant, harmonious statement.  Richard was a remarkable individual and artist who passed away in 2013 at the age of 69. Sadly, this is probably one of the few unworn pieces he created in the career he began in 1974 and are highly collectible. He was a highly talented and respected Navajo artist who was a master of mosaic inlay. and silversmithing. His work is displayed at the National Museum of the American Indian / Smithsonian and Heard Museums. Realistically priced to sell.
