Description
Maker: This exquisite cup and saucer service for 4 was made in Bavaria by the legendary German porcelain firm Schumann and it reflects that iconic firm's high quality: the porcelain is thin and translucent and the paint work is of a high standard.
Design
: The richly gilded pattern features beautiful hand painted cobalt blue flowers on the cups' interior and a band of intricate raised gold scrollwork on the outside, all against a pure white fine porcelain backdrop. The saucers' gold scrollwork surrounds a band of tiny blue florals.
Age
: The cobalt blue lion mark 22C on the reverse of each piece includes the phrase "Echt Cobalt", or "Genuine Cobalt". It dates the set's production to the 1960s. Schumann's "Echt Cobalt" line was produced from around 1950 until at least the 1970s.
Size
: The cups are 2 1/8 inches tall and 3 5/8 inches wide at the opening. The saucers are 5 3/4 inches wide. The set weighs 1 pound 14 ounces.
Condition
: All 8 pieces are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs.
