    Description

    Rare sterling silver bolo by Lawrence Saufkie.
    Laurence Saufkie was born in 1935 and passed in 2011. A member of the Bear clan , he was a pioneering silversmith for over 60 years. He won the SWALA lifetime achievement award and was named an Arizona living treasure in his later years. He was collected by many prominent museums and received an award from the American Museum of Natural History. This fine bolo is one of his most recognized designs. The design is the Palhikmana or Butterfly Maiden. The butterfly maiden symbolizes transformation and renewal and is the Kachina sprit for springtime. Finely made, this bolo is a prized collectible.
    Full length of bolo tips included is 40 1/4 in. Bolo size 2 1/2 x 2 3/4 in.(at widest point) tip length 2 1/2 in.
