CUFF BRACELET Very RareStunning Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver & Lapis
Artist: Ivan Kee
Official I. Kee Signature Stamp On the Back
This is a beautifully crafted cuff bracelet by renowned Navajo Silversmith Ivan Kee.
Ivan perfected his silver artistry in the 1940's and 1950's working as an apprentice
to the brilliant master Navajo silversmith Kenneth Begay, who was widely known as
"the Father of Modern Navajo Jewelry.
Ivan Dominic Kee (1936-1982) Navajo, is the brother of Allen and George Kee.
Of the three Kee brothers, Ivan produced the fewest pieces, making his works considerably
harder to find, and potentially more valuable.
His work was featured in the 2002 exhibit "Jewels of the Southwest",
at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
A few decades ago, I spotted this item in a pile of old pawn shop jewelry in Prescott Arizona.
It fit me perfectly, and garners compliments whenever I wear it.
Bracelet is 2.5" x 1.75"
The Lapis Lazuli is almost 1"
The opening is 1" and since the silver is substantial, the opening does not "stretch" for larger wrists.
Please make sure your
wrist is 1" or less to slip this beauty on.
It's made of thick, sterling silver, and the etching makes its own statement
in simplicity, holding to the philosophy that "less is more".
I do my best to describe every listing accurately but I am not an expert and items are sold AS IS.
