Description
Hand-crafted sterling silver with gorgeous Nevada Blue turquoise cabochon by Richard Tsosie, renowned Navajo artist. The ring is approximately size 5.25 and is approximately 2cm including the stone which is designed to fall just below the base of the finger. The total weight is approximately 7.5 grams. The band tapers slightly to the back to ensure a comfortable fit. It features designs on the sides which is silver overlay that is delicately antiqued and reticulated. We purchased this ring new from Richard in 1995 for a trunk show in our store. Since that time it has been in our inventory/vault and has never been worn. It is a collector's item -- photos do not do it justice and include shading and reflections. We have the largest selection of Richard Tsosie anywhere and are proud to represent him. This ring is priced well below market for immediate sale. I have several previously had Richard's rings re-sized by a professional jeweler who understands the delicacy of natural stones, however, most of the antiquing comes out during the process which is a matter of personal taste and preference. Please contact us with any questions. Richard Tsosie is a renowned Native American/Navajo artist whose work is highly collectible and spiritual and is featured in prestigious galleries, museums and books. Many people mistakenly describe Richard's work as "tufa cast" when in fact, it is overlay. His work is highly collectible and spiritual and is featured in prestigious galleries, museums and books. In the 1980's Richard "accidently discovered" a process called "reticulation" which he created when he noticed that silver filings were fusing to create a unique finish that contrasts with the polished gold and silver metals and stones and which has become a hallmark of his work. Richard uses the highest quality of stones (meticulous inlay, nuggets and cabochons) including Nevada Blue, Spiderweb, Kingman, Morenci, Bisbee, Sleeping Beauty and other high quality natural turquoise, as well as lapis, jet, shell, coral, malachite, sugalite, lapis, petrified ivory and precious and semi-precious stones such as ruby, diamond, cultured pearls, garnet, amethyst and peridot. His work most often depicts symbols of his native culture and often reflects the colors and stones of the four sacred mountains of the Navajo Nation (jet, shell, coral and turquoise)and which enable people to live in harmony with their Creator and nature.
