    Description

Here is a rare item: a triple strung, turn of the century mandolin from "Bruno" , museum quality , with the original case and all original parts in excellent condition.
Bruno at the time was probaby a manufacture , then later a distributor. In fact C Bruno still exists as a division of Kaman Music Company (think Ovation, etc) . From the Blue Book of Guitar Values:
"C. Bruno & Sons was originally formed in Macon, GA in 1834. C. Bruno & Son guitars were built by another manufacturer, and distributed by the company. The company has been in the music distribution business since then and C. Bruno & Son distributors is currently part of Kaman Music Corporation.
In 1838, Charles Bruno and C.F. Martin entered into a partnership to produce and distribute acoustic guitars. These specific guitars are labeled with both names, and were produced in New York. In 1839, Martin moved the company to Nazareth, PA and dissolved the partnership.
See photos for reference. Now, it is hard to find solid information on a turn of the century rarity like this, but I think I'm safe in saying it was
    Made in the USA.
Now, as to conditon. It is in fabulous, ready to play condition! No cracks, no warps , no giant dings, no bellying, no dents. No neck resets, no reglued braces. It does have a ding on the neck on the top side and a scratch on the top. I'm leaving those as they are.  Even the label is in great condition, which is unusual. Often paper labels from this era are falling apart.
The parts are ALL original, no replacements. The tuners are in nearly pristine shape with no corrosion. The inside bracings and so on are in nearly mint condition.
Even the case, while a bit worn and missing the handle, is orginal and in good shape.
The body is made, I believe, of alternating maple and Brazilian rosewood. The top is spruce. The bridge and nut are probably ebony. The pickguard is most likely bakelite. The fingerboard is rosewood with pearl dot inlays.. The maker name on the headstock  "Bruno" is inlaid maple on a rosewood headstock. I believe the entire neck is a carved, single piece of rosewood....IMHO.
Stamped on the back is "C Bruno, New York " and the number 100 1/2, the model number I assume.
The sound - well, you'd have to hear it to understand. Triple strings friends, big sound, wonderful rich mandolin sound. A delight to play. Get yourself a true , museum quality, piece of musical Americana such as is no longer made save in China......
