Description
DESCRIPTION:Vintage Larry Pooyouma Hopi sterling silver overlay stick or hat pin featuring a Hopi kachina mask design.
The sterling portion is oval in shape and measures about 1" high by just under 1/2" wide. Overall length with the pin is about 2 7/8" long. It is marked with the sunface and ear of corn hallmarks of Larry Pooyouma on back. It tests as sterling silver, although it does not say sterling.
Artist Larry Pooyouma was known for his silver overlay technique when creating beautiful jewelry. He was from the Hopi Pueblo village of Hotevilla on the Third Mesa. He is listed as having been active from 1975 to 1991, the year he died. When he signed hs jewelry creations, he used the Hopi Guild hallmark sun symbol and his personal corn hallmark.
