Large Southwestern Native American Indian multi-stone knifewing kachina inlay sterling silver bolo tie, stamped STERLING, and signed W. J. JOHNSON by the Navajo artist WILLIAM J. JOHNSON. This colorful bolo was beautifully inlaid with turquoise, jet/onyx, white abalone, spiny oyster, and white shell in 8 mosaic sections that form the kachina. The mosaics sections are set in smooth bezels and the dancer is adorned with twisted wire and stamped solar circles all around. The center mosaic is wrapped in twisted wire, and the wings are framed by a stamped silver border, common in Navajo pieces. The slide is about 3 3/4" tall by 3 1/8", and has a clip style cord grip in good working condition. The cord is roughly 39" (with 2 1/8" tips) and it's in very good shape; it doesn't appear to have been used much. The tips have a very nice patina and are also in very good condition- no dents. The complete bolo weighs about 71.5 grams. Exceptional stone-on-stone inlay work by the artist.
Note: The left foot of the kachina has a hairline, unnoticeable because of the matrix. The stone remains secure in its bezel.
Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art.
