Fine Old 36" Native American Navajo 3-Strand Turquoise Shell Necklace ~137 Grams

This auction is for a gorgeous vintage 3-strand handmade Native American Navajo turquoise necklace.  The necklace has beautiful medium blue turquoise in many irregular shaped nuggets with nice brown matrix that compliments the white heishi shells between the nuggets.  The necklace is a traditional squaw wrap design with braided back that slips over your head (there is no clasp).  The braided back on the necklace meaures about 3" long.  The necklace is loaded with turquoise!
The Navajo necklace is substantial weighing 137.4 grams and
measuring about 36" around. The turquoise nuggets are beautifully matched in color and the matrix.  The largest stones measure approximately 1/2" x 1/4" in size.
This Navajo necklace was one of several Native American necklaces that I purchased in a Ralph Lauren boutique in Palo Alto, CA.  The boutique had
wonderful, old Native American art and jewelry collected all across the US by Ralph Lauren antique specialists.  I
bought the necklace some 28 ago as vintage and it remains in excellent vintage condition.  The necklace has a beautiful, warm patina.  I did not find any chipped or cracked turquose nuggets or heishi but there could be a few tiny chips since the necklace is vintage.  The squaw wrap seems strong and secure.
