Effie Calavaza, with her hallmark "EFFIE C - ZUNI" is perhaps one of the most widely recognized Zuni artists. Her wonderful work is easily identified by her recurring symbolism of a snake pattern in her jewelry, and is very sought after by collectors. In Zuni belief, the snake is a positive sign of rebirth and renewal.
The tie has a total of thirteen stones, seven of which are delicately set in hand cut bezels in the midst of gorgeous silver snake designs, while the other eight are inlaid and create the snakes' eyes. Silver beads and imprinted designs can be seen on he slide accenting the snake designs for a wonderful finish.
This slide measures 7 inches tall, by 4 1/2 inches tapering down to 2 inches wide.
The tips measure 9 and 9 1/2 centimeters.
The tie including the leather cord weighs in at 91.1 grams, and measure 20.5 inches long.
