Description
Welcome!WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: an exceptionally beautiful aesthetically exceptional brooch with two sizes of petitpoint hand cut and buffed stones and a round center stone. The lapidary work is superb and the rounded puffy stones are as good as they get. The silver work is equally excellent with finely twisted wires, hand stamping and applied raindrops. The quality of the piece is top notch in every respect. The stones are gorgeous! I've included a pic above of it positioned next to a bracelet by Fannie Ondelacy Weebothee. The work and the designs of the pieces are very similar to each other, and the stamps are in the shape of and seem to be equivalent to the puffy crescents. They are also positioned where the puffy crescents are positioned on the bracelet. This pin is newer than the bracelet, dating to the 60's-70s, while the bracelet, which is available separately in my store, is dating to the 40s. The similarities are noteworthy, however and the pin could be the work of a family member or someone else entirely. The Ondelacy design was also used by some Navajo artists so there is a chance this pin is Navajo made. Justin Wilson Jr, Justin Wilson Sr, and early Juliana Williams are possibilities.
CONDITION: excellent vintage, wearable and collectible.
