Description
Welcome!WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: This exceptional pendant made and signed by Myron Panteah who was Zuni and Navajo, is made with exquisite detailing with beautiful texturing, appliquee´s, stamp work,
chisel work. It's hard to know exactly how he created this beautiful pendant which is my favorite piece of his. The texturing is so fine that the piece actually glitters. I have never seen such a beautiful pendant and I've seen a lot of them. Fossiized coral is also a favorite material of mine and you can see how much he appreciated it, too, by the fact he left the back open, which is someting you just don't
ordinarily
see on Native American jewelry. He signed it not with tons of information. The bail is large enough that necklaces can be put through it so even some turquoise or coral necklaces can be worn with it as well as some beads like Navajo pearls. I also have a smaller wonderful pendant of his in my store, so look around my store for his bear pendant.
BACKGROUND: Myron Panteah was both Zuni and Navajo. He lived in Zuni. He was a personal friend with the biggest heart. He lived from 1966 to 2016 and was a prize winning artist of some stature. He was a SWAIA Fellow in 1998, also had a Patricia McFate and Sydney Beal Fellowship. He won a third place pendant award at InterTribal in 2002. His work was carried in Case Trading Post at the Wheelwright Museum. His works and thoughts appear in countless publications. He was a very important and talented artist whom I miss every single day.

When I include pages from published books in my listings it is in accordance with Fair Use Law, which permits the use of source material for discussion, reference, education and criticism.
Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.
